Consider a Professional Designer:

While there are plenty of tools now available that you can use to create your own book cover, if you are not sure, or simply want to pass the work onto somebody who is more experienced, consider hiring a professional designer. Today, you can find graphic designers to make your book cover in various different places, including Fiverr, where you can browse designers and test out some cover design options.

Some book covers might include graphics alone, but it some cases, photos can make a better impact. Photos of an Animatronic Jurassic Park Rex Dinosaur might be an ideal choice for your prehistoric or sci-fi novel, for example. There are plenty of different places online where you can find the ideal photos for your book cover. Some sites are dedicated to photos of certain subjects, or you can find free stock photos on several different popular websites.

Designing Your Own Cover:

If you want to take the DIY route, the good news is that there are several tools that you can use to make your own book cover. Doing it yourself can be ideal if you have a clear idea in mind of what you want. Believe it or not, you can use basic programs like Microsoft Word to create your book cover. If you are more design-savvy, Photoshop could be an option for you, or try Canva, with a large selection of book cover templates that you can tweak until you get the look that you want or create your own from scratch with an easy drag-and-drop design tool.

Get Feedback:

Before putting your cover on your book and publishing it online, it’s a good idea to ask for feedback to see how other people view the cover. You might want to get a few different cover ideas made and then ask your family and friends to give you their honest feedback on which one might work best with your book. Bear in mind that we always view our own work differently to how others might view it, so if you’ve designed a cover yourself and aren’t sure about it, asking others could bring some surprising opinions.

Self-publishing a book has never been easier. No matter what you’re writing about, your book cover is going to be the first thing that people see and is essential for making the best impression on your readers.
