Go to the Right Store
If you want to find the best bra, you need to go to a store that specializes in delicate clothing and lingerie. There’s no way around it. While you might be able to find a decent one at your local big-box store, the reality is that you get what you pay for.
This doesn’t mean you need to drain your savings account to buy a good-quality bra. Yet, it does mean that you need to put a little thought into where you shop for yours. Cheap bras will wear out sooner and you’ll need to replace them more frequently.
It’s worth putting more time and money into yours. If you do so, you’ll find that a handful of premium bras will last you for years.
Know Your Size
If you visit a specialty store, they should have someone on staff who can professionally measure your bra size for you. Yet, it helps to know how this process works so you can try it at home before you go.
Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your ribcage, just below your bust. Round the measurement to the nearest inch.
If you get an even number, then add four more inches. If the number is odd, then add five more inches. This is the band size that you will need for your bra.
Next, you need your bust size. Again, wrap the measuring tape around you. This time, go right on top of your nipples, at the fullest part of your bust, and round to the nearest inch.
Now, subtract the band size from the bust size. The number you’re left with is your cup size. The number of inches will dictate the cup “letter” that you need.
For instance, a one-inch difference is an A cup, while a two-inch difference is a B cup, and so forth.
